01 / The experience
Smash Drums puts drums and cymbals in virtual space and uses your controllers as the sticks. Follow the music, respond to the patterns and build a feel for the rhythm as you play.
The physical action makes the idea easy to recognise from outside the headset. It offers guests a way to experience a drum performance without placing a traditional drum kit on the event floor.
Drumming involves keeping time while moving between different targets. In Smash Drums, the controllers become your sticks and the virtual kit gives each strike a place in the performance. The combination of drums, cymbals and musical patterns asks you to coordinate both hands and maintain a rhythm as the track develops.
02 / Experience highlights
Strike the drums and cymbals using hand movements tracked by the controllers. Moving between drumheads and cymbals gives the performance different targets and a recognisable drumming feel.
The rhythm gives each session its pace and provides a clear focus for the player. Playing along with the track makes timing central to the challenge, with the music helping guide the next strike.
Players’ movements make the experience engaging to watch as well as to try. The movement of both hands gives spectators a visible sense of the rhythm even before they see the virtual kit.
