01 / The experience
Home Run Derby puts you inside a virtual baseball setting with the action approaching from the pitcher. Your controllers become the means to swing at the ball and aim for a home run.
The challenge centres on timing and coordination. Each attempt gives you another chance to read the pitch, adjust your swing and improve on the previous result.
The task is easy to describe but takes concentration to repeat well: follow the ball and bring the bat through at the right moment. The virtual stadium and crowd sounds surround that simple interaction with a sporting atmosphere. Working towards more home runs gives each attempt a result to build on.
02 / Experience highlights
The surrounding visuals and sounds place the batting challenge in a sporting setting. The stadium visuals and crowd audio create a sense of occasion around each pitch and swing.
Use your movement to connect with the incoming ball in virtual space. Your controllers act as the bat, linking the movement of your arms to the action in the virtual scene.
Successful hits give players and spectators something immediate to celebrate. Trying to hit more home runs within the challenge adds a competitive goal and a reason to take another turn.
